  • Green Building Association

PROAC Corporation is a proud member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Central PA chapter. The USGBC administers the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The LEED rating system provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable “green building” design, construction, operation and maintenance solutions. The LEED certification program provides independent, third party verification that a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health.

Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) has been identified as one of the key areas under the LEED certification process. In addition to certain IEQ prerequisites such as meeting or exceeding the guidelines established in ASHRAE 62.1– 2007, a building can achieve additional credits for establishing and implementing a Construction Indoor Air Quality Management Plan During Construction (IEQ Credit 3.1) and completing and implementing a Construction Indoor air Quality Management Plan Prior to Occupancy (IEQ Credit 3.2.)

IEQ Credit 3.1 involves a series of site inspections and photographic documentation that the HVAC components are and absorptive building material are being protected from dirt/debris and moisture during the construction process. PROAC Corporation has developed and implemented IEQ Credit 3.1 plans for numerous LEED certified buildings throughout the area.

IEQ Credit 3.2 allows for a Building Flush Out (Option 1) or Air Testing (Option 2). The building flush out can add considerable time to the construction timetable and project managers are choosing the Air Testing option to meet this credit. PROAC has completed and received satisfactory results for IAQ Air Testing in numerous LEED certified buildings throughout the area.

  • "We called on Proac to decontaminate an occupied dormitory room. A water leak caused mold growth on the walls and carpet. All the occupant’s possessions had to be removed, decontaminated and stored in a trailer while the work was completed on the room. Again, this project was completed in a professional and timely manner."
